Image Metadata Remover
See all hidden data in your photos — GPS location, camera info, timestamps. Remove it all instantly to protect your privacy.
Why use this Image Metadata Viewer + Remover?
An image can contain more information than what you see on the screen. Photos captured by phones and cameras may include metadata such as the camera model, capture date, image settings, software information, and, when location tagging is enabled, GPS coordinates.
This information can be useful when organizing or analyzing your own photos, but it may not be something you want to share with other people. For example, a photo with GPS metadata could reveal where it was taken, while camera and timestamp information can provide additional details about the image.
This Image Metadata Viewer + Remover lets you inspect the available metadata in an image before sharing it. You can check information related to location, camera, file details, timestamps, and other EXIF data when those fields are present.
After checking the metadata, you can remove the available metadata and download a cleaned copy of the image. This allows you to keep the visual content of the photo while removing metadata that you do not want included in the file.
How to use this tool
- Drag and drop an image into the tool, or click the upload area to select a file from your device.
- Wait for the image to be analyzed. The tool will display the metadata that can be read from the selected file.
- Review the available information before removing anything. Depending on the image, you may see details about the camera, location, capture time, software, and file.
- Use the available tabs or sections to focus on specific information, such as Location, Camera, or File details.
- If GPS information is present, review the displayed coordinates carefully before sharing the original image.
- When you are ready to remove the metadata, click Remove & Download.
- The tool will create a cleaned copy of the image for you to save.
- Use the cleaned copy when you want to share the image without the metadata that the removal process supports.
- Remember that metadata availability varies between image formats, cameras, phones, and editing applications, so not every image will contain the same information.
An example
Suppose you upload a photo taken with a smartphone. The image may contain information such as:
GPS: 23.8103° N, 90.4125° E
Camera: Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra
Date: 2024-03-15 14:23:41
Software: Android / One UI
The exact fields will depend on the original image and the device that created it. If GPS metadata is available, the coordinates can indicate where the photo was taken. Camera and timestamp information can also provide additional details about the file.
After reviewing the metadata, click Remove & Download to create a cleaned copy. You can then use that copy for uploading to a website, sending to someone, or sharing online, while avoiding the metadata that the tool was able to remove.
